ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) After serving as the Elkhart Community Schools superintendent for 10 years, Mark Mow will return as interim superintendent when Robert Haworth leaves this summer.
Tuesday's vote to name Mow as interim superintendent was unanimous.
Mow was the superintendent of Elkhart Community Schools from 2002 until his retirement in 2012.
He started with the school system in 1970 as a middle school science teacher and worked at several Elkhart schools before becoming superintendent. He has stayed actively involved in the schools in a number of volunteer roles.
“I am honored to return to the school corporation,” said Mow. “I’m particularly looking forward to joining what I consider to be an outstanding staff as we keep our promise to Elkhart kids and families and the community. As far as the strategic plan goes, I can tell you I am also planning to work with you to move that plan forward in a very thoughtful and financially responsible way.”
Mow will assume the interim superintendent role effective July 1.
Superintendent Robert Haworth will end his role with the district on June 30. On Monday, he was officially named superintendent of the Vigo County School Corporation. He has been with Elkhart Community Schools since 2012.
