Man killed in Michigan City shooting; suspect arrested

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) – A 32-year-old man was killed in a Michigan City shooting Wednesday night.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Woodland Avenue around 10:43 p.m., according to a release issued Thursday.

Once they arrived, 32-year-old Joseph Prior Jr. of Hammond was identified as the victim of the shooting. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After an overnight investigation, police identified 18-year-old Jae'Vianna Aldridge as a potential suspect. Around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Aldridge was arrested for murder, with formal charges pending a probable cause hearing in LaPorte County Superior Court.
