Local businesswoman Linda Rogers (R – Granger) is planning to announce a bid for Indiana State Senate District 11, which includes parts of Elkhart and Saint Joseph Counties. In a statement released to the media today, Rogers stated that she would be a “fresh face in the Indiana General Assembly and a trusted voice for her constituents.
“This is the people’s seat,” Rogers said. “It does not belong to any one man or woman but to all of us. As a political outsider with decades of experience in the private sector, I will bring a unique perspective to the legislative process and a true representation of the values of the district.”
Rogers, a former educator and restaurateur, now owns and operates Juday Creek Golf course and is president of Nugent Builders, one of Michiana’s premier home building companies. Linda was the first female president of both the National Golf Couse Owners Association and the Indiana Home Builders Association. In those roles Linda represented her industry by working with legislative leaders at the Indiana Statehouse as well as on Capitol Hill. An experience she says has prepared her to serve her constituents more effectively.
“I am not a career politician,” said Linda, “I have held many titles in my life; wife, mother, teacher and business owner but politician is not one of them. I am running now because I care deeply about our community and believe that a fresh perspective will help to tackle our most difficult issues.”
Linda is passionate about education, finding innovative ways to close the skills gap and give a boost to a lagging labor market as well as tackling the dangerous and exploding opioid epidemic.
