(WNDU) Three Michiana animal shelters are partnering for a "Name Your Price" adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 17.
The Humane Society of Elkhart County, Humane Society of St. Joseph County and South Bend Animal Resource Center are taking part in the "Clear the Shelter" event.
The Humane Society of Elkhart County actually started their "Name Your Price" adoption special on Thursday after taking in 20 cats and 14 dogs. Their kennels are full.
Meanwhile, a little farther west, the St. Joseph County Humane Society has more than 100 available cats and about 40 dogs all waiting for great homes.
"It's really important to find them homes, to give them that chance," St. Joseph County Humane Society Executive Director Genny Carlson said. "No animal should live out their life here in the shelter. So, we are really relying on the community to step up and help us care for these animals."
To get pre-approved for adopting a pet, you can apply online or visit one of the three locations participating.
Saturday's event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
