Legislators continue work on MAXSTRONG bus safety bill

INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - Work continued Tuesday in Indianapolis on the MAXSTRONG bus safety bill.

A conference committee on Senate Bill 2 met Tuesday morning and discussed the latest attempts to help school districts finance the installation of stop arm cameras.

"Rep. [Ethan] Manning has a proposal that, instead of getting cameras for free and benefiting a vendor having it and having it look to those people like we're policing for profit, we would simply allow school systems to petition the county government to pay for the cost of cameras," said Sen. Randy Head, R-Logansport.

Legislators will now put the latest changes in writing and submit them to their respective caucuses.
