On Election Day, a local frozen yogurt shop hopes to be a sweet escape from party lines by teaching kids the importance of voting.

Kids can walk into Sweet Frog in South Bend off of Ireland Road, grab a ballot, and vote for their favorite frozen yogurt and topping.

Kids can choose from 16 flavors, including dairy-free and low sugar, and over 80 toppings.

As an added treat, kids who cast a ballot and adults wearing their “I voted” from the 2016 election will get 20 percent off their purchase.

Sweet Frog hopes this makes the democratic process fun for kids at a young age and gives them a chance to cast their vote like their parents.

"We want kids to feel that they’re part of everything. Kids want to know what’s going on, how the parents are voting and this gives them a chance to be a part of something," says manager, Debbie

Sweet Frog says they’ll post the results on Facebook after they are tallied.
