(WNDU) - A judge said Monday he expects to issue a decision in the South Bend police tapes case "within two weeks." It won't be the first decision in the case, and probably not the last.
There's a pending motion for summary judgement. If it's granted, that would be subject to appeal; if it's denied, the case would likely be set for trial.
At issue is the legal status of police department telephone lines that were recorded.
The South Bend Common Council wants to hear what's on the tapes, but some officers feel that would be a violation of the Wiretap Act.
