Zac Mago passed away Thursday at the age of 17. Mago was a rising senior at John Glenn High School and was a star on the Falcons basketball team.
Since the news of his death, there has been an outpouring of support on social media from the Michiana sports community.
John Glenn Athletics tweeted: "John Glenn High School offers our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Zac Mago. Zac was an outstanding young man and an excellent example of what it means to be a John Glenn Falcon. He will be greatly missed."
The school's volleyball team posted: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, classmates, and loved ones of Zac Mago. The impact you had on your school, community, and all you came in contact will be sourly missed."
This, from Glenn's strength training twitter account: "My heart breaks for Zac and the Mago family. He truly was one of a kind. I will miss our talks in the athletic office. To our students, be strong for one another and hold each other tight. Zac, you will be missed but never forgotten."
Even rivals offered their condolences. The Jimtown boys' basketball team tweeted: "Our Prayers Go Out To The John Glenn Community And Especially To The Mago Family. Zac Was A Great Kid And An Awesome Competitor."
LaVille posted: "From your friends at LaVille: Thoughts and prayers to the @JohnGlennHoops standout and @ZacMago family and friends. R.I.P. and may God bless his family and friends."
Mago died exactly one week before his 18th birthday. The cause of death has not yet been released.
