An historic home is being saved thanks to Indiana Landmarks.

The restoration group announced it will be moving its South Bend office into the Kizer House on West Washington Street.

The long-standing structure will also be getting a face lift in the process, which will be completed in about two years.

The preservation group is intent on protecting the home's history while also saving its future.

Todd Zeiger, the director of Indiana Landmarks' Northern Regional Office, said, "We're right here in this cultural corridor along West Washington's National Register district and lots of great houses. This is one that really needed to be restored and repurposed from its previous use as an apartment house to something new now that we envision for this site."

The 132-year-old home sits right across the street from another Indiana landmark: the History Museum's Oliver Mansion.
