Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Fulton County Jail.

Nicholas Clevenger, a 29-year-old from Rochester, was found unconscious and not breathing at around 5:45 a.m. Monday. Correctional staff started life-saving measures, but Clevenger was pronounced dead in the cell.

He had been arrested Sunday by Rochester police for possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and possession of a narcotic drug.

Clevenger was booked into the Fulton County Jail and placed in a cell that was monitored with cameras because he indicated he might harm himself, according to police.

There were no outward signs of trauma to Clevenger's body, according to an ISP report.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning in Ft. Wayne.
