Father David Tyson has been named the fifth president of Holy Cross College.

Tyson was named interim president by the Board of Trustees in April, and he'll now serve a five-year term as president.

In May, Tyson told students there was no need to worry after an errant email from an administrator cast doubt on the school's future.

About a week later, Holy Cross agreed to allow Notre Dame to purchase most of the campus and lease it back to the College for one dollar per year.

Tyson was an assistant for former Notre Dame President Theodore Hesburgh and later became Vice-President of student affairs at Notre Dame.

Father Tyson served as president of Portland University in the 1990's.
