NEW CARLISLE, Ind. (WNDU) - If you and the family would like to go back to simple times of sugar maple tapping and enjoying the great outdoors, head over to Bendix Woods County Park in New Carlisle this weekend.
Sugar Camp Days is happening Saturday and Sunday, and it's the perfect way to celebrate the upcoming end of winter.
You and the family can watch maple syrup being made from sap in the Sugar House.
There will also be other fun activities including a pancake and sausage breakfast hosted by the New Carlisle Lions Club, kid’s crafts, cooking demonstrations and much more.
"It is a fun family tradition,” said Interpretive Services Manager Leslie Witkowski. “It’s a way to get outside right after a long cold winter because the maple syrup basically signals the end of winter and the beginning of spring, which I think everybody is very much looking forward to this year."
Sugar Camp Days will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and it costs $8 per vehicle.
The pancake and Sausage breakfast costs $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for kids 6-11 and it’s free for 5 and under.
