Fundraiser to help Westview student suffering from heart problems
A high school student is getting help from his classmates and the community in LaGrange County.
The Westview Jazz Band and Dynamic Singsations are practicing for a benefit next week to help senior Tye Grice.
Tye has had heart problems most of his life and now might even need a heart transplant.
On Monday, Total Value RV handed over the keys to an RV to be auctioned off at the fundraiser.
The owner's granddaughter is a student at Westview, and she told her family they needed to help.
"We've shed a lot of tears with the support that we've had," admits Audrey Green, Tye's mom. "Since Tye is 19, a lot of the bills are coming in his name, so it's his financial responsibility, which I won't let start his life out with that. I want him to start fresh."
The event, which is called "Put a Little Love in Your Heart for Tye," is going to be held Wednesday, January 18, in the Westview Junior High gym.
The silent auction and concessions start at 6 p.m., and the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
