There's a new, free tool for South Bend students who want to brush up on their reading skills before school starts in a month.
Istation is an online program that helps kids in grades kindergarten through 4 practice their reading.
“Perhaps its vocabulary, perhaps its phonics, so the program makes adjustments; it's adaptive,” said Wendy Folk, SBCSC director of primary centers. “So it moves the children where they need to be.”
Each student starts at their reading level and the program adjusts as the student improves.
They can use it this summer and during the school year for extra reading practice.
If families don't have access to a computer, they can go to any branch of the St. Joseph County Public Library where students can use a computer, iPad or even a Kindle.
All they need is their student I.D.
