Police are searching for the hit and run driver responsible for tearing through a South Bend neighborhood and damaging four parked cars.

The incident happened around 3:00 a.m. Saturday near Huey St. and Marquette Blvd.

A total of four cars parked along the road were hit. At least three of the vehicles were totaled and towed away.

No one was injured and police say the driver who caused thousands of dollars in damage ran off before police arrived, but left the car at the scene.

Lucille Navarro and Eric Baughman say they just moved into the neighborhood and have lost their only form of transportation.

"We can't do anything now, we're stuck at home. [Our baby] can't even go to her doctor's appointment in a few days," Navarro. "We have nothing right now and we don't have anybody who can give us a vehicle or help," she says.

Police say they do not have a description of the driver at this time.

The hit and run investigator will take the case up on Monday.

The suspect's car has been impounded so police will work to identify the owner of the car which will hopefully lead them to the person behind the wheel.

"If this would have happened an hour later and I was in my girlfriend's car going to work, then where would I be at," says Baughman.
