SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The woman who embezzled money from Swanson Highlands Pool has been sentenced for theft.
Amy Burris, 42, was sentenced to 30 months for theft, a level 6 felony, after stealing nearly $66,000 of the community pool's money.
There is not an embezzlement crime in the Indiana Criminal Code.
Reports say Burris used the money for personal items between 2015 and 2017, including a hotel room for a family vacation.
At first, the pool couldn't recover the funds and closed its doors.
It has since reopened.
Burris was also ordered to serve 18 months of probation and is required to complete 150 hours of community service
