Ford recalls over 36K cars due to new Takata airbag malfunction

DETROIT (AP) - There's another recall involving Takata airbags, but this time, for a different reason.

Ford says they may fail to inflate properly.

More than 36,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada are affected by this recall.

It includes the Ford Edge from model years 2016 and 2017, the Lincoln MKX from model years 2016 and 2017, and the 2017 Lincoln Continental.

The Japanese supplier Takata has been in the spotlight lately, because of a deadly problem that led to the massive recall of air bag inflators.

But in this case, the air bags may not fill completely due to misaligned components.

A majority of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S.
