SAN ANTONIO, TX (WOAI) - After a week-long search into a kidnapping that San Antonio police believed was staged, the father led investigators to an area where his baby was buried.
Last Friday, eight-month-old King Jay Davila was reportedly kidnaped after his father, 34-year-old Christopher Davila walked into a store and left the keys in the ignition and King in the backseat.
Police believed something was suspicious about the kidnapping and suspected that Christopher knew the women who left in his car.
The family denied those allegations and said the police were not searching for their son.
On Friday, authorities say the father took investigators to a spot underneath a bridge near his neighborhood which is located on the city’s northeast side.
The baby was found inside a bag that was buried in the ground.
The officers recovered the infant's body, wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a black backpack.
At this time, it is unclear how the baby died; the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy.
The father was previously arrested and charged with child endangerment but could face more charges as the investigation continues.
