A business break-in and burglary last month left behind a lot of damage and a big mystery for Elkhart police.

Just after 7 a.m. on August 14, the Elkhart Police Department was called to Gold & Diamonds Jewelry and Pawn in the 3400-block of South Main St. Elkhart because of a burglar alarm.

Three unknown suspects broke their way through the exterior cinder block wall of the business and gained access to the building. They used a dolly to remove a large safe from the building, and that’s when the alarm was activated. The suspects left in a blue colored extended cab or super cab pickup truck, before police arrived on scene. The safe contained an undisclosed amount of merchandise and cash.

The crime was captured on surveillance camera.

Those with more information about this incident are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP or (574) 288-STOP.
