Emergency crews battled a fire at an I&M electrical substation near North Liberty on Thursday.
The facility is located on Quinn Road, between Primrose Road and Pine Road.
According to a company representative, a transformer caught fire. She explained that Thursday's high temperatures could have played a role, but that the cause hasn't been confirmed.
The transformer fire hasn't caused any outages in the area, but future repairs could potentially result in outages.
A utility worker on the scene referred to it as an oil fire, and a viewer told us that he saw explosions.
The I&M representative explained that there is oil inside the transformers. They're working with a hazmat team to make sure the scene is properly cleared.
