UPDATE: Crews control fire at Mishawaka apartment complex

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) – Crews controlled a fire that broke out in a Mishawaka apartment building Thursday night.

The fire began in an apartment in the 5900 block of Winamac Lake Drive, according to a tweet from the Mishawaka Fire Department posted just after 9:45 p.m. That is in Indian Lakes Apartments, off Douglas Road and Main Street.

No one was hurt in the fire, Battalion Chief Michael Croy said.

It was not clear how many people were displaced by the fire, but those who were got out of the cold and were taken to the clubhouse.

Croy said the blaze started at the back of the building on the second floor and extended up to the third floor and into the attic.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 11 p.m.
