A correctional officer at a LaPorte County prison has been arrested for allegedly trying to sneak drugs into the facility.
On Saturday, the Westville Correctional Facility was told about an officer who could not clear the entrance procedures.
When checked, the prison says a pack of cigarettes fell onto the floor from Officer Paul Farkas.
A second search then found a clear plastic bag containing two small bundles of white and tan powder.
A silver wrapper was also discovered containing a second tan bundle of powder in addition to two books of matches and a small straw.
Tests show that the substances were cocaine and heroin.
Farkas was arrested for trafficking a controlled substance, a level 5 felony.
He is now in the LaPorte County Jail.
