Coloma woman headed to trial for fatal Berrien Co. crash

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) - A Coloma woman is now headed to trial for a fatal crash in Saint Joseph.

Officials say 32-year-old Amber Garton was driving 111 miles per hour when she hit a van on Interstate 94, killing a woman inside. This all happening late last year.

Officers say Garton failed a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test at the scene. Her alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Garton is charged with driving while intoxicated causing death, a 15-year felony.

Her trial is set to begin March 5.
