Christmas is coming early for some families in Michiana.
Thanks to organizations in Cass and Berrien counties, local food pantries across southwest Michigan are stocked.
United Way of Southwest Michigan saw a need in the communities and called out to organizations for help.
50 organizations responded to that call, and 18,000 items have been delivered to pantries.
Workers from Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman were just some of many donating.
They delivered to the Faith Victory Fellowship's food pantry Thursday morning.
"People are very generous during the holiday times, they just get this real generous spirit around Christmas time," said Co-pastor Jann Mitchell, of Faith Victory Fellowship. "And usually by the time we get through the spring and school gets out, the pantry levels are pretty low. So having this come in in the month of June, the timing is just perfect."
