Cass County Police have released the names of the drivers involved in a head-on car crash on Sunday.

A 17-year-old was driving northbound with 18-year-old Matthew Miller when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line, colliding with a southbound car driven by 33-year-old Lyndsey Horvath and carrying 62-year-old Kathy Peterson.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Newburg and Porter Township Fire and Ambulance Departments, Michigan DNR Conservation Officers, and Michigan Department of Transportation.

Seatbelts were used, and the crash remains under investigation.

A person was killed in a car crash on Sunday in Cass County, on M-40 about half a mile North of US-12.

One of the two cars involved was following a semi which was kicking up snow behind it. The car stopped in the road to get out of the blast, and was then struck head-on by the second car travelling in the opposite direction.

Each car contained one driver and one passenger. It's not yet clear who was killed, or from which car. All three survivors sustained injuries.

M-40 is closed until the road can be cleared.
