Berrien Co. residents reminded to beware ticks

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) - As summer approaches, the Berrien County Health Department wants to warn you about ticks.

Our reporting partners at WSJM say Berrien County has a much higher rate of Lyme disease infections than the rest of Michigan.

The Berrien County Health Department says the county has terrain that ticks love.

If you plan to walk around in the woods or dunes, the department recommends walking toward the center of trails and using insect repellent with DEET.

You should also check your body for ticks after a hike.
