Benton Harbor Area Schools addressing deficit

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) - Leaders with Benton Harbor Area Schools are reworking plans to eliminate the district's deficit.

The district has $4.5 million in yearly debt on top of $12 million in long term debt.

BHAS Superintendent Dr. Robert Herrera tells our reporting partners at WSJM Radio he is meeting with state treasury officials this week. Herrera said he hopes the district can get rid of the debt without affecting students.
