The St. Joseph County Special Olympics hosted a three-on-three basketball tournament on Saturday at Marian High School in Mishawaka.
16 teams across several different counties competed for their shot at the championship trophy.
More importantly though...this annual event serves as a away for athletes to have fun and get a feel for what being on a basketball team feels like.
"We got all ages seeing them participate and this gives them a chance to see it and do what other basketball teams do," St. Joseph County Special Olympics Coordinator Tom Flatt said.
Every athlete from every team received medals for participating in the tournament.
Participants say they look forward to coming back again next year.
