SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Police are responding to a bypass crash, involving two semis in South Bend just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Police say it took rescue crews nearly an hour to extricate one of the semi drivers. He was taken to the hospital for broken bones, and his injuries are described as non life-threatening. Meanwhile, the driver of the other semi also went to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to police, the crash was caused by a car performing an illegal U-Turn.
Right now, northbound lanes on the bypass near the Toll Road are closed for clean up. Police say they'll be closed for several more hours.
