A good judge is hard to find in Mayor Meer criminal case

Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer

Yet another LaPorte County Judge has refused to preside over the criminal case against Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer.

Court records indicate that Judge Michael Bergerson cited a conflict of interest in that Mayor Meer appointed Bergerson to serve on the city Redevelopment Commission January 2012 through January 2013.

That's the third judge to bow out. The defense has a pending request that a special prosecutor be appointed.
