61-year-old man attacked by pit bull in Berrien County
A 61-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being attacked by his pit bull on Tuesday night in Berrien County.
Police were called to a residence in the 6300 block of Pipestone Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. for a report of a pit bull attacking an adult male. Upon arrival, the trooper saw a severely injured male lying on the floor and a single pit bull biting his arms.
Police say the pit bull turned on the trooper, who was forced to shoot the animal to keep it from attacking.
According to police, the victim was the owner of the dog. Police say he had multiple severe lacerations to both arms and was in shock from blood loss.
First aid was administered, and the man was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
At this time, there is no word on the condition of the man or the pit bull.
