U.S. 12 reopen after single car accident; driver airlifted to hospital with severe leg injuries

The road between U.S. 12 and South 11th St. in Berrien County has been reopened after a single car accident closed it down earlier Saturday morning.

The initial call came in at 4:40 a.m.

A Cass County male was driving when his car ran off the road between the lanes and ended up hitting a tree. The driver suffered severe leg injuries in the crash.

He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

It's not known what made the car run off the road. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time.
