UPDATE: 1 killed in Elkhart Co. motorcycle-semi crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – One person is dead after an Elkhart County crash between a motorcycle and semitrailer Tuesday night.

Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the area of State Road 119 and County Road 40, east of Wakarusa and southwest of Goshen, at 8:28 p.m.

73-year-old Lynn Alan Long, Iowa, was driving a semi westbound on County Road 40 and trying to turn southwest onto S.R. 119 when he pulled out in front of a 2006 Honda motorcycle, according to a release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office. The motorcycle crashed into the trailer pulled by the semi.

The motorcycle had two riders. The passenger, 34-year-old Erin Schlabach of Goshen died.

The motorcycle driver, 33-year-old Eli Schlabach of Goshen, was transported by Medflight to South Bend Memorial Hospital for serious injuries.

The truck driver was not hurt.
