SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- While we work to set students up for success at school, what would we do without great teachers?
Too often, teachers have to reach into their own pockets to pay for classroom supplies.
So, Grace Hospice in South Bend helped with that cost by hosting their first ever "Teacher Supplies Giveaway".
Teachers received a bag full of supplies, something Grace Hospice believes needs to happen more often.
"All the events that happen this time of year always focus on the backpacks for the children which is very important, but we feel like we were leaving out the teachers," said Erica Sholty, an administrator for Grace Hospice. "There is a lot of things they need to supply for the classrooms to get the school year started and on behalf of Grace Hospice, we reached out between the staff here and the community to get donations to give back to the teachers to help get their school year started."
Thanks to several generous donations, Grace Hospice was able to serve nearly 150 bags of supplies to area school teachers.
