15-year-old accused of stealing car that was targeted in shooting
A 15-year-old boy was detained Thursday and accused of having stolen a car that was targeted in a recent shooting that injured four teen girls.
On January 3, South Bend officers responded to Van Buren and Harrison for reports of shots fired. They found a vehicle that had crashed nearby, at the intersection of Harrison and California Street.
There were four girls between the ages of 12 and 14 in the vehicle. Two were injured from gunfire.
All four were treated and released from the hospital.
On January 8, 30-year-old James Carter and 28-year-old Jacquise Carter were arrested and booked in the St. Joseph County Jail.
James was charged with aggravated battery and for being a habitual traffic offender. Jacquise was charged with assisting a criminal.
