UPDATE: After Dowagiac airport plane crash, 1 taken to hospital, 1 treated on scene

One person was taken to the hospital after a plane crashed at Dowagiac Municipal Airport Saturday night.
The 54-year-old male pilot was treated for minor injuries at the scene, while the 51-year-old male passenger was taken to a Dowagiac hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The plane, which was based in South Bend, was beginning to take off at the time of the crash, according to a press release issued Saturday night.
The crash happened around 7:21 p.m., dispatch confirmed.
There was no fire resulting from the crash, but about 15 units are on the scene of the crash.
The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Dowagiac Police were assisted by the Dowagiac Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff's Office and Pokagon Tribal Police.
