Police have identified the man who died when a train hit his truck Wednesday morning in Elkhart County.

It happened just before 4:30 a.m.

Franky Reeves, a 23-year-old from Osceola, was traveling southbound on Ash Road south of Old U.S 33.

Police say his Ford F-150 was hit by a train after he drove around the railroad crossing arms.

The crash initially happened in St. Joseph County, but the train dragged the truck hundreds of yards into Elkhart County.

Reeves died at the scene. Police say he was wearing his seat belt.

Lincolnway East near Ash Road was blocked off but has since reopened.
