UPDATE: Victim of Osceola Thanksgiving house fire identified

OSCEOLA, Ind. (WNDU) – Police have identified the man who was found dead after a house fire in Osceola on Thanksgiving.

When they arrived, police reportedly were told that the homeowners was still inside. They entered and found 64-year-old Richard Lueneburg dead, along with one of his dogs.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

First responders were called to the fire in the 10300 block of Lehman Street at about 9:05 a.m., according to a release from the St. Joseph County Police Department.

When officials arrived, they entered the house and found Lueneburg and the dog.

One dog was able to escape the fire and has been taken in by the Humane Society of St. Joseph County.

The male has not yet been identified nor his age released, and police will not identify him until family has been notified.

This was the second fatal St. Joseph County house fire Thursday. Two people died after a South Bend fire.

The fire is being investigated by St. Joseph County police, the state fire marshal and the St. Joseph County coroner's office.

Police say the fire spread through much of the home's interior, but it appears to have begun on a couch.

An official cause has not yet been determined.
