GRANGER, Ind. (WNDU) - Two people are dead and two others have serious injuries after a crash on State Road 23 in Granger.
It happened early Tuesday afternoon just before 12:30 near the intersection with Chestnut Road.
The St. Joseph County coroner said a man and woman in a white pickup truck died after the truck hit a gray pickup. The second truck also had a man and woman inside.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Bill Redman said an off-duty St. Joseph County police officer came upon the crash, and at least three or four others witnessed it. They told police they saw the male driver of the white pickup cross the center line a few times before the collision.
"One vehicle, for unknown reasons, according to witnesses, crossed over the center line several times prior to the crash occurring. So, we're trying to determine what, in fact, caused that to happen," Redman said.
He added that everyone in both trucks was wearing a seat belt.
The victims have not been publicly identified.
