NEWBERG TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNDU) – One person was airlifted to the hospital and another person was driven by ambulance after a three-vehicle crash involving a semitrailer in Cass County Tuesday morning.

A 69-year-old Marcellus woman was transported to the hospital by helicopter after the crash, which happened at about 9:14 a.m. on M-60 between M-40 and Wood Lake Road in Newberg Township, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

That woman has been identified as Laurene Preis, who reportedly was turning left when a semitrailer hit her vehicle. Fifty-two-year-old James Motycka, of Vicksburg, was driving the semi. He was not hurt.

After the initial collision, Preis' vehicle was pushed oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle driven by 42-year-old Jennifer Jercha, of Jones. Jercha was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Police say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash, and everyone involved was using a seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
