A Chicago native, Melissa decided to stay in her home city and earned her bachelor’s degree at Columbia College Chicago in May 2017.

She had the opportunity to report on Chicago politics and the election during her time at Columbia. And her internship at a local NPR station helped give her real journalism experience.

During her free time, you can find her trying out new recipes, binge watching favorite Netflix shows or swimming laps at a local pool.
