Megan Smedley

Sports Multimedia Journalist/Anchor
South Bend, In.

A Philadelphia native, Megan is excited to tell Michiana’s stories.

She graduated from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at UMD, Megan anchored, reported and produced for Capital News Service, the university's award-winning, student-run station. She covered stories on Capitol Hill, the Maryland State House and all across the state. Her work at Maryland earned her the 2018 Gracie Award for On-Air Talent in the Television Local Student category.

In addition, Megan spent her time at Maryland as the station director for WMUC Sports, the on-campus student radio station. She covered Maryland athletics and traveled to Big Ten and NCAA tournaments.

She interned with both NBC Washington and NBC Sports Washington, and free-lanced with the latter as a production assistant.

She’s got some weird sports alliances but will always be loyal to most Philly teams, her Terps, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Giants. In her spare time, Megan enjoys embarrassing reality TV and drinking too much Diet Coke for her own good. She looks forward to exploring the Michiana area, especially any town along Lake Michigan.
