Waleed Alamleh

Waleed Alamleh is a writer and journalist from Chicago’s South Suburbs with a passion for telling your story.

Waleed started as a sports columnist while attending Moraine Valley Community College. That’s where he got his first taste of reporting, and he never looked back. From there, he transferred to Northern Illinois University, majoring in communications with an emphasis in journalism.

While at NIU, he wrote for the student-run newspaper, “The Northern Star” as a sports reporter and daily column writer.

Waleed also interned with WNIJ news, doing broadcast coverage for the radio station in DeKalb, Illinois. He was a part of ‘NIU’s 815 Newscast,’ winning 1st place in “Outstanding Radio Newscast” from the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.

After graduating, Waleed began his career here at 16 News Now as a photojournalist in September 2022, learning the ropes before making the transition to morning reporter by 2023.

In his free time, Waleed likes making sports-related TikToks and checking out the scenery of the Michiana area.
