First Alert Forecast: Cooler mid-week; Back above average this weekend
Highs will stay at or above average most of this week
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) -
The ridge of high pressure we talked about last week is here and temperatures will peak in response on Tuesday. A weak, dry front will move through on Wednesday leaving temperatures in the lower 70s on Thursday. Behind the front, winds will shift back to the north and skies will continue to stay clear. The rest of the week will feature temperatures warming back closer to 80 degrees and mostly sunny skies. No substantial rainfall is in the forecast this week, this weekend or even early next week. While not officially in a drought, dry conditions will start to take hold moving into Memorial Day weekend.
TUESDAY: Except for a few afternoon clouds, mainly sunny. High near 85F. Low 56F. Wind light and variable.
WEDNESDAY: Sun & Clouds. Breezy as a cold front moves through Michiana. High near 80F. Low 52F.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny with a few afternoon clouds. Cooler air thanks to a cold front that will pass through Wednesday. High near 70F. Low 44.
MEMORIAL WEEKEND: Our dome of high pressure will continue to keep Michiana dry and warm as we go through the holiday weekend. Highs are likely to stay in the low to mid-80s with overnight lows ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. Lake Michigan water temperatures will still be quite chilly in the 50s. Our next rain chance will have to wait until the last days of May.
