14-year-old Aaliyah Ramirez found safe, two arrested
The girl was last seen April 27
Syracuse, Ind. (WNDU) - 16 News Now first reported on Friday that 14-year-old Aaliyah Ramirez was found safe in Florida.
On Saturday, we learned two women were arrested in connection to her disappearance.
According to our reporting partner, WPTA21, Ramirez’s aunt, 25-year-old Allissa Sands, and her grandmother, 47-year-old Elizabeth Sands, were arrested in Florida Friday night.
While we are still waiting to learn more details, Ramirez’s dance mentor, Katie Reynolds, said she is happy to hear she is safe.
“I was excited. I started shaking...I was running around this apartment. It felt good...The fact that she was found safe...It makes me feel good. I always had hope that she was still alive,” said Ramirez’s Dance Mentor Katie Reynolds.
Before Friday, Ramirez was last seen April 27 walking to her school bus.
Her disappearance made national news when her story was featured on NBC’S dateline.
