SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame Baseball is coming into Starkville red hot.

Their offensive explosion in the regional caught the eyes of many around the country.

Before last weekend, Notre Dame had just 45 home runs all year. Last weekend, they had 15!

“It’s going to be a great series,” left fielder Ryan Cole said. “I think we just have to do all the little things right. Play our version of baseball. I mean both teams are great. I think whoever does the little things right, plays their game of baseball better will come out on top.”

The Irish are playing with a chip on their shoulder because they are their biggest critics.

“I think these guys kind of have a chip on their shoulder because they play kind of they get after it man,” manager Link Jarrett said. “So I don’t know if the chip on the shoulder is just form anything more than just the guys wanna win. They don’t like a bad inning, a bad pitch, a bad play, they just don’t. It’s just their DNA right now.”

Jarrett says Spencer Myers is feeling good ahead of the game but TJ Williams is ready to go if they need him.

Notre Dame and Mississippi State will face off for Game 1 of the Super Regional Saturday afternoon at 2 on ESPN.
