South Bend schools considering new busing schedule
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Tonight, the South Bend Community School Corporation school board tonight will consider a three-tiered transportation plan designed to get students to school on time.
Three-tiered means that the school day in elementary buildings would start at 7:30 in the morning and end at 2:30, high school students would clock in at 8:30 and out at 3:30.
Middle school students would start their day at 9:30 and quit at 4:30.
It’s projected the new plan would save more than $1 million annually.
A survey showed that a majority of parents thought the on-time arrival of students was more important than overall building start-times.
A bus driver shortage has made it difficult to get kids to class on time.
