SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The St. Joe Indians have a huge game on Saturday.

The Indians will play in Semi-State for the first time since 1993.

This run St. Joe has gone on during the postseason has not been easy.

“It’s always been a dream come true,” St. Joe senior JR Konieczny said. “Ever since I started out here freshman year the goal was always to try and make a deep state run and try to win a state championship. We are kind of on track to do that hopefully this year. It’s just been really exciting. We are still really locked in though. We know we still have two more games to go, hopefully. We just have to maintain focus. Hopefully we get a win this weekend.”

Of the Indians four playoff victories, three were wins of less than ten points, and the Regional title against Hammond went into overtime.

“It’s a lot of fun,” St. Joe senior Jack Futa said. “Going down and being on this good run in the state tournament. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a great feeling.”

While fans might be on the edge of the seat, stressed out due to the pressure, the Indians are not feeling it. They are loving it and are really enjoying this run.

“We are having so much fun,” St. Joe senior forward Will Terry. “We are finally getting crowds back and when you get the crowd into it... that’s what March basketball should feel like - a loud crowd and a very intense game.”

It’s a big one this weekend. It will be St. Joe and Leo battling for a chance to play in the state title game.

Tip in Semi-State is at 4 PM on Saturday at North Side Gym in Elkhart.
