SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Ernest Clark Jr. and Ernysia Clark have been located by law enforcement. Both were wanted for questioning in relation to a shooting that happened early Monday morning on South Bend’s West Side.

Officials have confirmed that Ernest Clark Jr., 20, and Ernysia Clark, 19, are siblings. They were wanted by County Metro Homicide late into Monday evening.

According to investigators, police found 18-year-old Elijah Torres shot multiple times after a shot-spotter activation in the 1500 block of Liston Street in South Bend just before 4:30 Monday morning. Police say that is when Torres was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Peter Smith, who runs a soup kitchen at St. Augustine Catholic Church located directly behind where the shooting took place, says he is disheartened by the news of a young man losing his life to gun violence.

“That’s terrible. We are here to help people, the poor folks, and the folks that need help and to have somebody be shot right at the door step practically is really, really sad,” Smith says.

Smith also says he hopes those who are involved put the guns down and come forward before anyone else gets hurt.

“I just think there’s so many guns in the world, especially in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. Some of these things are bound to happen. I’m just really upset about it,” Smith says.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact County Metro Homicide at 574-235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
