ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - Happening today, city leaders in Elkhart cut the ribbon on a new place to play for kids.

This new playground located at the corner of 3rd St. and Park Ave is called the Tot Lot.

It’s one of the parks Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson calls a pocket park, that can give families in densely populated areas a place to take their kids.

This is on the site of another park the mayor remembers from growing up.

He said he’s happy to bring this resource to neighborhoods in his city.

“We want a place where people can come together and have a good idea about their neighborhood. As we build out neighborhoods, we want these neighborhoods to be strong from a standpoint of livability, and providing these amenities is right in line with that,” said Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson.

The playground is designed for children ages two through five, but as the Mayor clearly demonstrates, it supports adults too.
